Midwifery Program in Syracuse

At Upstate University Hospital Midwifery Program, we understand the importance of long term, supportive relationships with patients. That’s why our ultra-modern, leading-edge Midwifery Program is respectfully built a foundation of knowledge, trust, and personalized care that midwives have traditionally offered for multiple generations.

While many people may mentally link the role of a midwife to home births, the fact is, that roughly 99 percent of all midwifery occurs in a hospital setting or birth center. When it comes to women’s healthcare decisions, we believe in providing collaborative and informed care.

We work with our patients to determine the optimal course of treatment and supportive care necessary for each patient’s needs. In addition to offering patient-centered care, and our midwives are professional and highly trained, specializing in all areas of pregnancy and newborn care.

Our Midwives offer care before, during and after the birth. Delivering exclusively at the Jim and DeDe Walsh Birth Center on our Community Campus, Upstate's Midwifery Program offers the option of VBAC, or vaginal birth after cesarean section.

If you are looking for thoughtful, personalized care through all stages of your pregnancy, our midwifery program includes labor and delivery, where a full team of board certified obstetricians, are capable of handling any unexpected complications in a program build around your needs.
